Tomorrow, 2 pm
Our dear friend and Branch community member Betty Baldwin crossed the Threshold in 2020. Her family has invited us to a Celebration of her life on Saturday, July 8 at 2 pm. (see details below). Please reply to her daughter Jennifer if you will attend.
A warm, generous, and humorous soul, Betty had a ready smile and willingness to help out with whatever needed doing, in service to Anthroposophy, family and friends. She had a particular passion for creating opportunities to help children who need extra help. Her daughters have let us know that Betty has left a bequest to the Branch, one more example of her generous spirit.
We are blessed to have known her on this earth, and are blessed to continue the relationship across the Threshold. It will be great to see you there on July 8! | | | | | | | Presented by the Mystech Group | | | Perseid Meteor Showers Anyone? | | Dear Friends, Timothy Kennedy would like to organize a field trip to a dark skies location where we can take in and attempt to consciously experience the homeopathic meteoric iron shooting into our blood during the August Perseid meteor showers, which are a gift from the Archangel Michael to dispel anxiety and fear, and promote courage and strength. This year the peak of the meteor showers, around August 13, will be during a waning crescent moon, making them more visible. The meteor shower will be active from July 17 to August 24, so we can practice being aware of them. “Practice Spirit Sensing”
If you are interested in attending, and being in the loop as plans progress, please reply to this email.
What Rudolf Steiner tells us about our condition in summer, and the role of the meteoric iron (link to the Michael Imagination lecture at the end of these passages:
In August, as we experience a sulphurizing process in our physical and etheric bodies, which causes us to shine finto the cosmos in a ‘glorious astral light’, which beings there experience experience as ‘a majestically beautiful sight’.
“But at the same time it gives occasion for the Ahrimanic power to draw near to man. For this power is very closely related to the sulphurising process in the human organism. We can see how, on the one hand, man shines out into the cosmos in the St. John'slight, and on the other how the dragon-like serpent-form of Ahriman winds its way among the human beings shining in the astral light and tries to ensnare and embrace them, to draw them down into the realm of half-conscious sleep and dreams. Then, caught in this web of illusion, they would become world-dreamers, and in this condition they would be a prey to the Ahrimanic powers. All this has significance for the cosmos also.”
“And when in highsummer, from a particular constellation, meteors fall in great showers of cosmic iron, then this cosmic iron, which carries an enormously powerful healing force, is the weapon which the gods bring to bear against Ahriman, as dragon-like he tries to coil round the shining forms of men. The force which falls on the earth in the meteoric iron is indeed a cosmic force whereby the higher gods endeavour to gain a victory over the Ahrimanic powers, when autumn comes on. And this majestic display in cosmic space, when the August meteor showers stream down into the human shining in the astral light, has its counterpart — so gentle and apparently so small — in a change that occurs in the human blood.
This human blood, which is in truth not such a material thing as present-day science imagines, but is permeated throughout by impulses from soul and spirit, is rayed through by the force which is carried as iron into the blood and wages war there on anxiety, fear and hate. The processes which areset going in every blood-corpuscle when the force of iron shoots into it arethe same, on a minute human scale, as those which take place when meteors fallin a shining stream through the air. This permeation of human blood by the anxiety-dispelling force of iron is a meteoric activity. The effect of theraying in of the iron is to drive fear and anxiety out of the blood.” -Rudolf Steiner, The Michael Imagination

Student Support: I am Soma Baker, a 23 year old Portland Native and student at YIP, the international Youth Initiative Program in Sweden. I am currently in the final 3 months of the one year program focused on social entrepreneurship for young adults, based in Iterjärna Sweden (an anthroposophical community). I am mainly studying culture today, and how to bring consciousness to it through art and ideas, exploring what it means to be a free human being today. I would like to further/finish my studies this year and need financial assistance. If you would like to help please reply to this newsletter email and the Branch will put us in touch with one another.
